Welcome!
The United Church is a unique and vibrant community, rooted in social justice. Our gatherings, including our time of worship, are relaxed and casual. We share the belief that all people have talents and gifts, which are necessary and needed; that all people are important, creative, valuable, and truly do make a difference. We understand ourselves to be followers of Jesus, called to create heaven on earth by taking actions which lead to freedom, justice and liberation, while actively engaging with the lowly, the lonely, the lost and the least. No matter who you are, or where you are on your journey, you are welcome here!

Our Sunday service begins with singing hymns chosen by the congregation out of the hymnbook. A social justice moment is shared that focuses on action we can take to make a difference now in our local community. We recite our welcome together: "Welcome to The United Church. We are a peace and justice community. A movement towards wholeness in a fragmented world. Together we create a strong sense of belonging, a safe place to flourish, and opportunities to grow In our own way and in our own time." Traditional hymns and contemporary songs are interspersed throughout the service and include selections by our small praise band and our spirited pianist. Time is taken to center and reflect on the current message, which is part of a multi-week series. Readings are taken from a variety of biblical translations, contemporary writings, poetry and short stories, sometimes written by our own members. We offer candle lighting, and a communion table that is open to all. We take time during worship to fill our senses and greet our church community. Our service ends with the congregation joined together in a circle to share personal inspirations sparked by the service, announcements of interest to the church community and a short benediction. Time is taken before leaving for a coffee and a light snack together. Often after service we have a discussion group, meeting, or other program. Many travel an hour to attend, so we maximize our time together.
All of our ministries, groups and serving opportunities are open to all - both members and friends and families. Opportunities are announced and included in the weekly newsletter. Getting involved is as simple as letting the identified opportunity leader (or really anyone) know your interest. You will be quickly connected to ministries, groups and opportunities to serve that are meaningful to you.
